Haze... Into Production (early)

“You lot did what in 6 days?”
I have been asked that a few times on the phone recently.
Haze – a "Proof of Concept" on multiple fronts.

A fantastic filming opportunity kindly supported by Garden Studios has enable a group of us (filmmakers) to show something IS possible… in a week. An opportunity arrived for a bit of a moon-shot. Shoot on a virtual Production Stage with about a week's prep. I’ve been discussing an idea with some wonderful education providers at Barking & Dagenham College / ELIoT for a while. Allowing Wild Indie (me) to partner with the college/s and an extended network of people and develop an idea to work on film education. An idea that could be repeated and grown. That’s another discussion… this post is to celebrate this moon-shot “Proof of Concept”. Bravo to all involved.

Haze is a multi-facetted project. More sparkly than a diamond, with equally shiny "greater" aims and objectives. As well as make a fantastic film, starting with this short/pilot, the concept includes a feature/series, a game, and it has the aim of helping educate future and current cohorts of filmmakers in the process.

Short film -"The Shed" WT... In To Production (at last)
After postponements that started with CoVid Lockdowns and then continued with trying to line up multiple fast moving ducks... we are finally going back into early stage production on a comedy short film called (Working Title) "The Shed". We are not giving much away on this one other than it's an amusing tale of the things that can go wrong in The Shed. Nearly all props are wrangled with just 3 more needed. We're checking actors dates and then... "Action".

Made as a collaboration of 5 friends, Detect is a short film Written and Directed by Mark Benmore, with production, cinematography, and editing by Gavin Saville.
Garf Rees-Wells plays the lead role of a curious detectorist. Robin Brooks and Ivan Celant were invaluable in the production team and the film genuinely wouldn't have been made without the whole team's contribution. Coming onboard in post, the team was joined by Sound Sorcerer Alex Ellerington and VFX Wizard Joe Button.

The film tells the story of a metal detectorist who chances across a strange device. A short distance teleportation device of unknown origins. His experimentation ends with horrifying consequences.

Production paused for a while during CoVid lockdowns but Wild Indie resources have recently been able to bring the film through to completion. The film is about two thirds of the way through it's festival circle, presently it has two Category Wins, 2 more Finalists positions, 4 Honorary Mentions, and another hlaf a dozen or more Official Selections. What is really interesting is this short film could be just the beginning as the short film tells a story leading into a longer episodic concept that is to be pitched to station commissioners. Watch this space.
